This is a Limited Edition of 500 hand-painted character cels from the Touchstone Pictures and Amblin Entertainment Inc. Academy Award-winning feature Who Framed Roger Rabbit. It is one of a series of selected limited edition, hand-painted reproductions of original artwork from Disney animated films. The Walt Disney Studios has recreated the artwork from Who Framed Roger Rabbit using traditional animation techniques. The original animation drawings, maintained by the Disney Animation Research Library, were transformed to acetate "cels" by a special six-step xerographic process. The cels were also enhanced with hand-inked lines and airbrush effects. Disney artists then hand-painted each of the cels in edition with Disney-approved acrylic colours. The photographic background of the live-action setting accompanying this cel has been produced from a frame of the original footage from the film. The resulting colour print has been printed on premium quality photographic paper by Custom Color of Glendale, California. Published by Disney Art Editions in 1993, the edition consists of a general edition of 500, 50m publisher's proofs and 25 hors de commerce. There are no signed cels. This recreated cel set-up, "Jessica's Debut", is from sequence 24, Scene 3 of Who Framed Roger Rabbit: Jessica Rabbit, one of the film's central (and most curvaceous) figures, makes her entrance at the Ink and Paint Club.
